Les Elles du Tango (The She/Wings of Tango) is a team of tangueras: professional dancers and teachers, joined by milongueras and tango organizers. We intend to help women who dance socially to find their own way in the dance and in the bal, whatever their dance level. We thus organize workshops in Paris and Italy (and soon all over Europe) crafted from the view point of women in tango.

All our activities are designed to give women a full role in the dance and in the bal. It means allowing women to come to terms with their role in the dance couple and also develop their own technique.

To think of and to play with the feminine in tango could by no means be of any interest without the male role. That’s why all activities are open to men, with who we hope to exchange and find new paths of interaction in order to deepen the connection in the dance. We welcome as well people who would like to play with genders and roles, women leaders and men followers.

We are not speaking only women technique. If it is the core of the workshops we organize, we are thinking larger and biger : our approach is global (musicality, history...) and cross-disciplinary (others body techniques, music, singing...) and aims to a fully grown and fulfilling tango. We want our workshops to be a meeting point for women to share their doubts and hopes, their questionning and dreams with other women as well as with the men.

2-day workshop (or more)

Les Elles du Tango offer an all-included project called « Pa’ que bailen las muchachas » (to be scheduled over a weekend or longer). This project includes Women technic classes as well as artistical isights, conferences and open discussion, analysis of female specific dance elements, and even tango or other dance shows.

The title refers to a tango by Troilo (music) and Enrique Cadicamo (lyrics), Pa’ que bailen los muchachos, that underlines our belief that for all of us “Life is a milonga”!

Professionals who participate in « Pa’ que bailen las muchachas » are carefully selected. They achieved artistic qualities, sound theorical approach and/or pedagogical skills. By this mean, we are working on setting up a European network which will allows us to invite to Paris, dancers living in the neighborhood countries and generate some fruitful exchanges.
